The water system that includes Rohallion Loch, the park land and tree plantings, the Buffalo Park, Rohallion Lodge, the Byres of Murthly sawmill and a unique Catholic Church were all built by Sir William Drummond Stewart in the 1840's.
A man of enormous energy and talent, he is well known in America for pioneering the Oregon Trail.  He is remembered in local legend as the man who brought buffaloes and native American Indians to Birnam and Dunkeld.

It is his heritage that is now threathened, 
along with the environment that includes Birnam Wood and Duncan's Camp
